Nurture learning, creativity, and community through the visual arts

Since its founding in 2012, the Art School of Columbia County has been housed in an historic schoolhouse building and is located on a bucolic landscape, with studio spaces and a gallery inside. Our mission is guided by supporting artistic expression for youth, teens and adults while serving people from diverse, socio-economic backgrounds. Through our work in education and the visual arts, we do not discriminate on any level with regard to people’s abilities to participate. Our work welcomes you here and also brings us locally and regionally, wherever you are….. we look forward to seeing you.

Classes

We offer year-round art programming for youth, teens and adults with a wide range of art classes and workshops, from several weeks to weekend long. We hope you’ll discover a variety of options to fulfill your interests and creative pursuits.

Artist’s Statement
“I create deeply personal work that speaks about the soul of America. I have spent a great deal of time on the road. The paintings I make are distilled from that experience. Although there is an aspect of cultural anthropology in my work, I must feel a profound personal connection with my subject. This emotional response is what I try to convey through my paintings. I’m seeking to evoke a certain mood through the limitations of paint”.

Jeff Neumann spent his childhood in New Mexico, California, and Massachusetts. Although he lives in
Upstate New York, the Southwest continues to inspire his art. He visits as often as he can. He uses his
photos from road trips as references for his oil and watercolor paintings
