Nurture learning, creativity, and community through the visual arts

Since its founding in 2012, the Art School of Columbia County has been housed in an historic schoolhouse building and is located on a bucolic landscape, with studio spaces and a gallery inside. Our mission is guided by supporting artistic expression for youth, teens and adults while serving people from diverse, socio-economic backgrounds. Through our work in education and the visual arts, we do not discriminate on any level with regard to people’s abilities to participate. Our work welcomes you here and also brings us locally and regionally, wherever you are….. we look forward to seeing you.

Classes

We offer year-round art programming for youth, teens and adults with a wide range of art classes and workshops, from several weeks to weekend long. We hope you’ll discover a variety of options to fulfill your interests and creative pursuits.

 “Only The Mountain Remains”

Group show curated by Mary Flinn

The Birds have vanished into the sky
and now the last cloud drains away
we sit together, the mountain and me,
until only the mountain remains.

– Li Po

Mary Flinn says about the exhibit “it relates to the dropping away of thoughts, opinions and judgements into a moment of giving and receiving in relation to the artwork in front of you. What kind of images come into being when we let go of our preconceived idea and open up to the unfolding of the muse.  Each of these seasoned painters have their own unique experience in their relationship with painting, and in turn have created unique works of art to share. Enjoy the unfolding with the muse in each artwork”.
