Egg tempera is one of the oldest mediums dating back thousands of years; evidence of egg tempera painting has even been found in the Pyramids in Ancient Egypt! The use of egg tempera flourished in the Renaissance and the colors of paintings made 100s of years ago remain vibrant to this day as it is one of the most durable mediums. Its versatility is still widely favored by many artists for its radiant quality. Made with just three ingredients, students will learn how to mix and apply egg tempera to a prepared board. Students should expect to make one or two small paintings in the course of this class as techniques for mixing, applying and layering the paint will be covered.
