The Art School of Columbia County Presents its first exhibition of 2021!
“Pieces, Then a Picture”
An Exhibit to Celebrate World Collage Day and Our Members, Students, and Faculty.
May 8-29, 2021
Opening Reception Saturday, May 8, 2 to 6 pm
Collage is from the French word “coller,” meaning “to glue.” A collage may include magazine and newspaper clippings, paint, handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs, and other found objects, all secured to a piece of paper or canvas. Collage became a distinctive part of modern art in the early 20th century. The Art School is delighted to join the many ways this art form is being celebrated around the world. The opening reception will include safely offered beverages and snacks, and there will also be a Community Collage work-in-progress that any and all are welcome to contribute to, along with other ways to experience collage. The show will be up at the School through May, with the Community Collage a continuing hands-on exhibit.
Gallery hours in May are Saturdays and Sundays May 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 & 30, 2 pm to 6 pm and Thursdays May 13, 20 & 27, 10 am to 2 pm
