Presented by the Art School of Columbia County, 1198 Route 21C • Ghent, NY 12075 www.artschoolofcolumbiacounty.org

Made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. The cooperation of participating libraries. The generous support of donors like you.

Join us in 2020 to explore the theme of “Self Portraits – Seeing Who We Are.” This year, in addition to our regular tuition-based adult art programming, the Art School of Columbia County (ASCC) will be offering a variety of free programs in libraries and our School. We will delve into this reflective exploration through the written word, art, and history. There will be programs for K-12 students, seniors and the general public.

Our own identity is core to the human experience. ASCC’s Self Portraits – Seeing Who We Are program uses word-based and image-based learning to connect poetry, art, and history, bringing a deeper and richer understanding of self while we connect to artists, poets, and the world. The programs will utilize selections from poets such as Langston Hughes and William Carlos Williams, and journaling examples from Frida Kahlo and others to fully explore our own identities.

ASCC Artists (faculty) will present free programs based on this theme at libraries throughout Columbia County. There are Art in the Library sequential programs for children in grades K-12 and their families, as well as Family FunArt Days for the general public (see schedules). In addition, a series of Senior FunArt Workshops will be presented at ASCC.

Now in its eighth year of programming, the Art School of Columbia County serves many members of Columbia County, from pre-K to our respected elders. ASCC’s mission is to nurture creativity and community through the visual arts for all ages, skills and means. We rely on volunteers and donations to make free art programming possible.
