Andy Warhol was one of the most influential and innovative artists of the second half of the twentieth century. He is preeminently identified with Pop Art, a movement he helped originate, and his first fully achieved paintings, rendered in a style mimicking the crude printing processes of newspaper reproduction, were based on imagery from comic strips and grocery products. We will look at the famous artist’s early years in Pittsburgh and the various problems he encountered. Warhol, talented and ambitious, associated with beautiful people and created stunning works of art. Our discussion will hopefully lead to a better understanding of the works and the man behind the glitz and glamour.
