Nurture learning, creativity, and community through the visual arts

Since its founding in 2012, the Art School of Columbia County has been housed in an historic schoolhouse building and is located on a bucolic landscape, with studio spaces and a gallery inside. Our mission is guided by supporting artistic expression for youth, teens and adults while serving people from diverse, socio-economic backgrounds. Through our work in education and the visual arts, we do not discriminate on any level with regard to people’s abilities to participate. Our work welcomes you here and also brings us locally and regionally, wherever you are….. we look forward to seeing you.

Classes

We offer year-round art programming for youth, teens and adults with a wide range of art classes and workshops, from several weeks to weekend long. We hope you’ll discover a variety of options to fulfill your interests and creative pursuits.

Childhood Revisited is a body of work spanning almost 20 years. It is largely through taking these images, which number in the thousands, that I have learned about photography. I was captivated by the joy of these children and endeavored to capture the sense of purity happening all around us as we did chores, walked, read books and adventured. I hope that in these images you may glimpse and feel memories from long ago, as I do.”  – Sabina Curti

Sabina Curti attended Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School through the 1970’s, then Berkshire School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a year in the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Paris. She has lived in Hillsdale, Paris, New York City, Miami and Hillsdale again. Sabina studied architecture and has also worked in graphic and website design. She has been exploring photography since 2005 and has only recently had her first gallery show in Twentynine Palms outside Joshua Tree National Park in California.
