All new this summer is ASCC’s new Figure Drawing Series with both instructional time and studio time.  Join us on Thursday July 26, and August 2 and 16 from 6 pm – 8:30 pm for Figure Drawing: All Levels with ASCC faculty members Gary Finelli and Maj Kalfus. The first hour of this series includes instruction; then continue working from a live model for another 90 minutes.  Select full session with instruction, or studio session only.

Want to experience art, but have limited time? Join us for Painting for the Hurried Creative with ASCC faculty member Sara Pruiksma on Saturday July 28 from 10 am – 2 pm.  The class explores water-based media in a freeing manner, loosening your approach as you explore impressionistic styles.  Also on Saturday July 28, join us for One Hour Art from 3-4 pm and 4-5 pm to also explore mixed media – all supplies included.  Free for ages 15-21, and just $15/hour for adults.

On Saturday August 4, starting at 1 pm, join us for One Hour Art for one hour (or two) for a drop-in class exploring print making.  We will be exploring techniques without a press so you may continue printmaking at home. 1 pm – 2 pm: Radial Symmetry and Hand-cut Blocks – includes warm-up exercises and sketching your ideas 2 pm -3 pm: Collagraphs and Collage: simple techniques for using everyday objects, printed on collaged and found/up-cycled papers.

On Monday August 6 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, join is for our free ART: Learning to Look program. Using the theme “Movement in Art,” the first hour explores a theme in art history; the second hour (optional) is time to share and discuss your own work or bring in favorite images to explore.  A welcoming introduction for those new to art, museum-goers, and those seeking to further their art appreciation. Spaces for classes are filling quickly – register online to reserve your space.

At ASCC, we have more ways for you to experience art this summer – join us!
