MELISSA FORBES: Healing Threads

On Sunday, October 23 Melissa Forbes will present an Artist’s Talk from 4:00 – 4:30 p.m.
Opening Reception from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Artist statement:
Melissa Forbes “Weaves her Cherokee blood with the Anglo Saxon, despite the termination of the wisdom culture. Erased as if it has no value. What is the effect of having one’s Culture terminated?

Interlacing the past threads, flow, harmonize the colors, must understand. Healing to empower the Matriarch. I strive to learn from my Cherokee ancestors. Listen, feel the colors, they have many things to teach”.

Cherokee Moring Song
We n’ de ya ho
We n’ de ya ho
We n’ de ya
We n’ de ya
Hey yo
Yay a ya

I am of the great Spirit, Ho! I am of the great spirit, Ho!
It is so. It is so.
Great Spirit Great Spirit Great Spirit

“Every day you must have a though for the rising sun, welcoming the new day. The great spirit.
The origin of life and the source of all wisdom. You shall know the birth and decline, before
coming to shine again”
