Get involved in making history! ASCC’s historic schoolhouse may soon be permanently dedicated to community use and we want your ideas to make this happen.
We invite community members for a discussion and brainstorming session regarding future growth and plans for the Art School on Saturday October 27 from 5-7 pm. The meeting is held at ASCC (1198 Rt 21 C, Ghent NY) and is open to the public, refreshments are served. Artists, architects, historians, designers, landscape architects and planners are all welcome to attend.
Discussion items include structural and gallery renovation ideas, new uses for ASCC’s landscape, new art programming ideas, and ways community members can become involved. ASCC is in the midst of a Capital Campaign for a permanent home in the historic 1880 structure and surrounding land it currently occupies. Having a permanent home allows ASCC to develop a permanent exhibit and teaching space, conserve a historic landscape and structure for future generations, and provide new program capabilities such as a printmaking and clay studio and more on-site children’s programs. Did you know ASCC’s historic building has an interesting past? We even have a history of a student who attended in the 1920s! Read about our building’s history here.
