Announcing our #NYGivesDay Party November 28: show your support & volunteer

Help us give the gift of art to our community!

ASCC is participating in a 24-hour fundraising challenge #NYGivesDay on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, joining with hundreds of other nonprofits across New York State to raise funds.  We are asking our community to “Help Us Give the Gift of Art.”

How are we doing this?  We’re throwing a party!

Join us for our #NYGivesDay Party at ASCC from 3-7 pm on November 28.  Meet ASCC’s Board and learn more about our programs and refreshments are served.  Please consider dropping off a donation during the #NYGivesDay Party, or make one directly through our website or the online platform hosted at www.nygivesday.org.   Our goal is to raise $5000 and all donations will be matched 2 to 1.

Looking for a way to get involved and give back?  Our #NYGivesDay Party features drop-in volunteer projects:

  • help sort a recent, large donation of art history books to our reference library – a great project for an art history enthusiast or bibliophile
  • help prepare art materials for our free art outreach programs for kids
  • stay for as long as you wish – anytime between 3-7 pm
  • bring a friend to spend an hour or two giving back to the community
  • children ages 10 and up are welcome to volunteer accompanied by a parent or guardian

Need holiday gifts? ASCC is a great source for holiday gifts which help support art in our community.  On view is our Small Works Show, featuring the art of artists from our region who are ASCC faculty and members, on view and available for purchase.  Free gift wrapping is available.  Gift certificates to ASCC’s classes and gift memberships are available and make great gifts.

In our fifth year of offering high-quality art classes and outreach programs to the community, we are a non-profit organization with a vision of imagining art for everyone.  ASCC served over 1200 community members throughout Columbia County in 2017.  We employ community artists as educators and our programs reach pre-Kindergarteners through 12th graders in our free Art in the Library programs held in libraries and schools throughout Columbia County.  We lead our free Art & Memories programs for seniors in need and those with cognitive or memory issues such as Alzheimer’s.  We also teach fine art classes year-round at the Old Schoolhouse (1198 Route 21C, Harlemville), awarding hundreds of dollars in need-based scholarships and hosts art exhibits and lectures featuring regional artists.

#NYGivesDay is a 24-hour online challenge to celebrate nonprofits across the state of New York.  Nonprofits across the Empire State will work together to raise awareness, collect donations, and build a stronger sense of philanthropy throughout their local communities.  Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving that occurs on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday each year.
